Having studied Engineering and starting a career in IT I moved into Sales and Bidding. I was excited by the opportunity to work with senior leaders, understanding their needs and developing solutions and services that met their needs, and which beat the competition!

My career has spanned many of the big names in ICT services as well as back-office BPO services. The key to my success has been based on the following:-

Innovation – looking for an edge through innovative commercial structures, partnering with smaller, niche providers of IP or technology, or indeed looking to work with larger prime contractors.

Listening – Fully understanding the client’s needs, the politics and taking time to seek and understand feedback from customers – often given obliquely, particularly in public sector procurements.

Understanding the Decision-Making Process – How will a decision be made and by whom? Do we have a connection to the decision-makers?

Methods and Tools – I always make judicious use of varying sales methodologies and tools. Whilst none can turn a campaign into a pure science they all shed light on fundamental truths of any sale – do you understand the customer? Do they understand you and what you offer? Who’s really making the decision and who has the greatest influence?
